Teacher Assistant

Al-Ihssan Sunday School is seeking a part-time teacher assistant for the 2019-2020 school-year. The primary role of the Teacher Assistant is to assist teachers in developing and implementing the instructional program as well as supporting a positive climate in the classroom and community.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of elementary education with one-year experience and will have demonstrated success in teaching or assisting elementary students. We are looking for a professional teacher who will collaborate with the faculty to implement instruction. The candidate should possess the skills and passion necessary to inspire learning and enhance the overall learning experience in accordance with Al-Ihssan Sunday School mission and core values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher by providing input in planning learning experiences, contributing materials for the classroom, supporting instruction, and maintaining a positive environment.
  • Develop instructional skills through observations of classroom teaching, work with various groups of learners, response to constructive feedback, and self-reflection.
  • Broaden curricular knowledge through reading/research, collegial conversation, and lesson implementation.
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with the classroom teacher by demonstrating initiative, accepting responsibility, and maintaining honest, open communication.
  • Support student learning by understanding developmental readiness, working effectively with small/large groups, and communicating clear and consistent expectations.
  • Demonstrate positive interactions with students through modeling Islamic  behavior, building relationships, displaying enthusiasm for learning, and communicating effectively with students.
  • Serve as a team member who supports and contributes ideas, demonstrates a willingness to learn, exhibits flexibility, and follows-through with responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience with elementary students
  • Familiarity with age appropriate classroom management strategies
  • Good command of English and Arabic

Teachers – Elementary and Middle School  

Al-Ihssan Sunday School is seeking a part-time teacher for the 2019-2020 school-year. The primary role of the Teacher is to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program for elementary and Middle school aged students in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop Islamically and fulfill their academic potential. Work is performed under the supervision of Al-Ihssan Sunday School principal and the Education Coordinator at Apex Mosque.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and one-year experience in teaching elementary or middle school education and will have demonstrated success in teaching elementary and middle school students. We are looking for a professional teacher who will collaborate with the faculty to implement instruction. The candidate should possess the skills and passion necessary to inspire learning and enhance the overall learning experience in accordance with Al-Ihssan Sunday School mission and core values.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with curriculum and established procedures. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies and differentiate instruction.
  • Able to work effectively with a wide range of students and be able to use differentiated instruction
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.

.· Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  • Incorporates high standards of professional ethics: models the qualities of fairness, equity, integrity and honesty in professional dealings with others
