Da’wa Department

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and manage the circles and courses of Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, and other Islamic sciences.
  • Organize spiritual programs and activities such as lectures/short talks, Eid khutbah, Itikafs, learning circles, Dhikr sessions, etc.
  • Invite Muslim scholars – including Taraweeh Quran reciters- and manage their visits and accommodation.
  • Manage the Cross Generations Quran School and initiate programs to prepare khateebs and Da’wa speakers.
  • Hold counseling sessions with couples and families, and initiate conflict resolution as needed.
  • Provide prayer calendars to the Mosque and community.
  • Respond to inquiries and debates regarding Islamic matters and issues with proper proofs from Quran and Sunna.
  • Solemnize marriages (nikah), shahadas, and funerals.
  • Facilitate the process of integration into the community and education of those who embrace Islam.
  • Organize Hajj and Umra programs.
  • The Imam is under the leadership of the chair of the Da’wa department, and he is a member of this department’s board.

Education Department

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and develop the vision, mission, and objectives of all educational programs including:
    • Al-Ihssan Sunday School
    • Al-Manara Daily Preschool
    • After-school and summer programs
  • Provide educational and training programs in leadership, business, communication, and relative subjects.
  • Manage the Apex Mosque library and create related activities and programs to engage the community in reading and learning.

Social Affairs Department

Responsibilities

  • Organize and execute the social activities of the Mosque, including Iftar programs, community dinners, lunches, and social gatherings.
  • Welcome new members to the community and initiate programs and services to help them
  • Work with community members with special needs to identiy means for improving their situation
  • In coordination with the Treasurer, collect and distribute Zakat al-Fitr, Zakat al-Mal, and other charity funds
  • Organize the fundraising events in coordination with other departments.
  • Organize and manage health fairs, job fairs, networking events, food pantry, and other social and welfare assistance programs.

Family and Childhood Development Department

Responsibilities

  • Create and oversee the activities and programs related to family and childhood development including family relationships, family interactions within the community and family & cultural diversity.
  • Invite speakers and organize workshops and training that are focused on raising children and maintaining family values.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with other groups and individuals, internal and external, who have the same concern of family and childhood.
  • Create programs and organize activities for children (ages 4 to 11) including Friday/Saturday activities, Ramadan program, babysitting and children’s activities during social events

Sports, Recreation and Youth Department

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and supervise recreation and sport programs for the Apex Mosque community remembers including children and youth
  • Organize recreation programs such as picnics, Eid celebrations, camps, and field trips
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and hired coaches for sport activities
  • Schedule the use of the gymnasium in the multipurpose hall and enforce rules and regulations to ensure the space is used in a safe and proper manner
  • Initiate and oversee youth development programs.
  • Provide Islamic education and organize spiritual programs for the youth
  • Organize field trips, picnics, and camps
  • Organize leadership trainings and workshops
  • Engage youth in volunteering, public speaking, short talks, and Friday speeches.
  • Invite youth activists and educational speakers
  • Initiate scouting program and assist the youth to engage in the local community
  • Coordinate activities with other organizations that cater to the needs of the youth in coordination with the board

Media & Outreach Department

Responsibilities

  • Organize, attend, advertise and participate in civic engagement programs, trainings or workshops serving the goals of Apex Mosque and its community members
  • Build bridges of communication and cooperation with official and civic institutions
  • Coordinate initiatives with other religious and non-religious, Muslim and Non-Muslim organizations in the field of social, humanitarian or rights and liberties issues
  • Implement initiatives that can keep a positive image of Apex Mosque and of the local and national Muslim Community within the American Society
  • Establish ties of communication, mutual understanding and respect with the local Muslim and non-Muslim community
  • Advertise events out of the Apex Mosque, publishing reports, and inviting the Media when needed
  • Organize open houses, participate in local festivals, engage in public schools, and search for opportunities to introduce Islam to non-Muslim community.
  • Disseminate information about the Mosque and the Muslim community through press and media releases to the local communities.

Facilities Department

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Apex Mosque properties, equipment, kitchen, and storage rooms and their contents.
  • Record Apex Mosque assets and internal property items. Loan and recover those properties/assets as well as monitoring their use in activities outside of Apex Mosque.
  • Coordinate the month-by-month calendar of activities on Apex Mosque grounds.
  • Handle reservations and space rentals for the community use.
  • Determine rates and fees for space and equipment use
  • Present plans and budgets needed for any expansion, remodeling or new construction on Apex Mosque properties execute them after consent
  • Assess any safety near misses and implement preventive actions to protect people and facilities of Apex Mosque.
  • Organize parking lots of Apex Mosque and make arrangements of other parking lots during big events.
  • Oversee the safety of children on the grounds of Apex Mosque during prayers, lectures or any other activities held by the Mosque, and make parents aware of their ultimate and legal responsibility of the safety of their children.

Secretary

Responsibilities

  • Keep the Mosque registered as a non-profit religious organization in the State of North Carolina with all necessary paperwork to keep it authenticated.
  • Prepare, circulate, and maintain the minutes of the board
  • Prepare the agenda for BOD meetings in consultation with the President.
  • Store Apex Mosque’s files and documents.
  • Maintain the list of members and volunteers for various functions of the Mosque.
  • Present at the beginning of every BOD meeting the minutes of the previous meeting for approval.
  • Manage mosque announcements on Fridays and other days in consultation with the President.
  • Handle Apex Mosque’s correspondence work.
  • Establish and maintain the Mosque’s web site and emails list
  • Cover (picturing, filming, recording, distributing and archiving) all the activities held by the Apex Mosque or any other institutions that might be part of it.
  • Announce, publish reports, and invite external media as needed
